Agutayan Island is a sand cay 15-20 minutes away from the shore of Jampason, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao. It's been declared an MPA and Xavier University's McKeough Marine Center has been supervising its clam monitorings and recently, begun its experimental coral transplantation, which also happens to be my undergrad thesis :P
Hope you guys enjoy the pictures :D sorry for the blurry shots, I'm still trying to learn to stay still :P
thanks i really appreciate it. too bad that the island's tower has crashed down from the previous typhoons (lando-hagibis and mina-mitag). but the reef's still beautiful.
It is true that the town was hit hard. But I am VERY HAPPY to hear that the reef is doing good. I have dove in the Philippines. And I did get a chance to teach there for a little bit. Some around Panagsama Beach, at Moalboal,Cebu, working for Ocean Globe, And I did a lot of diving in and around Mac Tan Island with Angel Marine. Plus I did my Divemaster classes with CD. Hiroko C. Masuda But it is to bad that I never got into your area Your Friend in diving Anthony L. Jenson #189666 OWSI

oh by the way guys, most of the underwater shots of the coral reef (the pretty good ones) were taken by a friend of mine. i forgot to give him the credit :P thanks again :D i take credit for the various inverts and the puffer (one of my faves).
wow!! so many giant clams! how big they are? and how could this be, that many in one spot?
they're about 50 cm (~20 in) about 5-6 years old. they were collected for tagging for my friend's thesis and later on relocated to a more preferable site :D these giant clams were first moved to the island cay when they were about 6cm (~2 in) big and they've been under constant watch by the university :D
Hi I'm a new diver, just got certification last june in Bohol, and having some fun dives in Anilao. Those giant clams are really amazing! Wow! I hope to go there and dive someday. Your new friend in diving, Jackie
